We recently welcomed not one, but two new web marketing managers to the WordJack team. In June, we introduced you to Rebecca Lind, and now it’s time to learn a little bit more about Amy Boylan. Here are her responses to some questions I asked her about what brought her to WordJack and what her clients can expect from her in the future.
What are your impressions of WordJack so far?
Having had experience in sales, I know that it’s much easier to sell a product if you believe in what you’re selling. . . This is how I feel about WordJack. Once I saw firsthand everything that WordJack can do for small businesses and watched how all our team members fight to achieve results for our clients every day, I can genuinely say that WordJack is a company that I feel proud standing behind.
What is your professional background/experience?
I come from a background in social media and web marketing, sales, creative design, and writing (both creative and technical). I believe that online marketing is a great way to combine all of my past experience: experience which now affords me the opportunity to provide educated advice, and meaningful insights to my clients when it comes to their online marketing goals.
What made you interested in web marketing?
I first became interested in web marketing when I had the opportunity to work for a small business myself. In this position, I was put in charge of web marketing and online content, and I was surprised to find that I could spend at least two to three hours a day looking after the success of online campaigns, posting updates on Facebook, improving the company’s web presence, and many other online marketing tasks. Not long after these changes were implemented, I was able to see how all of my updates and all the attention I paid to my employer’s online presence helped increased sales. In other words, I had an extremely satisfactory “Yay me!” moment. It felt great to know that the work I was doing online was an integral part of the company’s success.
What can your clients expect from you as their marketing manager?
Clients can expect consistency in communication, and a marketing manager who genuinely cares about the success of their business. I will always do my best to put myself in my clients’ shoes in order to determine not just what they are looking for and how they can improve their rankings online, but also help them come up with marketing suggestions from a consumer standpoint. I like to think that imagination plays a huge role in determining what is best for various online strategies. This is something I always strive to offer.
What do you think is the most important thing a small business can do to improve their online marketing strategy?
I believe that the most important thing that a small business can do to improve their online marketing is simply putting time and effort into it. It’s important to understand that all of your online efforts should connect somehow, which means consistency and attention to detail is key. And whether it is spending time on social media to connect with customers, directing customers to your site with great online content, blogging . . . all of these efforts will eventually help you attain online success. It just takes patience, hard work, and a little bit of creativity and foresight!
Do you have any predictions for marketing trends in the near future?
I can see marketing with Instagram becoming a potential trend in the future. To me, it seems like the up-and-coming Facebook and Twitter, which are both great platforms for reaching out to new customers.
What are some of your interests/hobbies outside work?
I spend most of my free time with family and friends, but in my spare spare time, I enjoy writing, reading, watching films, and drawing. I would love to learn how to cook, but unfortunately, as it stands today, I can’t cook toast without running out of patience . . . Maybe someday.
Anything else you’d like the WordJack team & our clients to know about you?
I suppose the only thing left to know about me is that I try to look on the positive side of life whenever I can, which is only possible with a thoroughly trained and practiced sense of humor. I like to bring this attitude to the people I work for, and the people I surround myself with every day of my life.
